ABOUT
I AM JOURNEYMAN (PETER HLAVIN)
Following The Journeyman Thread
Every journey begins with a step.
For me, that step began on Spain’s Camino de Santiago—a 500-mile pilgrimage that transformed the way I viewed creativity, storytelling, and the connections between people and places.
I did not return from the Camino simply wanting to create more music or art. I returned with a deeper understanding:
- Every person carries a story.
- Every place holds a memory.
- Every experience has the potential to transform us.
That realization became I Am Journeyman.
More Than a Name. A Way of Seeing.
Journeyman represents a lifelong pursuit of discovery through music, art, storytelling, and meaningful experiences.
The work I create takes many forms:
- Songs that capture moments of the human experience.
- Books that preserve stories and reflections from the road.
- Visual art and installations that invite people to pause and connect.
- Community experiences that bring people together around shared journeys.
At first glance, these may appear to be separate creations.
They are not.
They are connected by The Journeyman Thread.
The Journeyman Thread
The Journeyman Thread is the invisible connection that weaves together every creative expression.
It is the belief that transformation can happen through the experiences we share:
- A song can change how we feel.
- A story can change how we see.
- A place can change how we remember.
- A journey can change who we become.
Each creation becomes a marker along the path—a moment of discovery that connects one experience to the next.
The Creative Journey
My journey has unfolded through many expressions:
-
Music
Songs that explore love, loss, hope, courage, reflection, and transformation. -
Storytelling
BookS and written journeys that preserve the lessons discovered along the way. -
Visual Art
Installations and creative spaces designed to inspire reflection and connection. -
The Camino
A continuing source of inspiration and a reminder that the path itself changes the traveler.
Through these expressions, I explore a simple question:
What happens when we slow down long enough to listen, reflect, and discover what the journey is trying to teach us?
The Camino Connection
The Camino de Santiago is more than a path from one place to another.
It is a journey of transformation.
Along the way, pilgrims encounter markers that invite them to pause and reflect. They carry burdens, discover new perspectives, and arrive changed from when they began.
That same philosophy guides my creative work.
- A song has its own Camino.
- A story has its own Camino.
- A person has their own Camino.
The Journey Continues
Today, the Journeyman Thread continues through new creative paths, including the Song Camino—a participatory journey where Peregrinos experience a song as it moves from inspiration to completion.
It continues through projects that connect art, nature, and community along the Camino de Santiago.
It continues through every person who chooses to walk alongside this journey.
Because the destination is not the only important part.
The path leaves its own story.
Welcome to the Journey . . . Follow the thread.
